As the Caribbean Premier League CPL T20 gained momentum, the House of Angostura and Angostura Chill took the lead in inspiring the next generation of cricketers by hosting a half-day cricket coaching clinic. This initiative, part of Angostura’s robust corporate social responsibility program, was held in partnership with Blue Waters Saint Lucia at the Gros Islet Playing Ground, Saint Lucia, on August 15, 2023.
Three notable cricket players, Mark Deyal and Jayden Seales from the Trinbago Knight Riders, and Kimani Melius from St. Lucia Kings, shared their expertise with approximately 40 young cricketers aged 8 to 17. This initiative aimed to increase opportunities in sports education and development, fostering skills in bowling, batting, and fielding.
As Executive Manager of Marketing at Angostura, I emphasised our belief in nurturing young talent. “We believe that providing our young players with the skills they need will help nurture their passion and talent, offering them an avenue to pursue cricket as a career option,” I noted. The young participants benefited from top-notch coaching tips and access to rising stars of the CPL T20 tournament. Angostura Chill is proud to champion youth development in the Caribbean, believing it will yield long-term social and economic benefits.
Dexter Percil, Commercial Manager of Blue Waters Saint Lucia, echoed this sentiment, expressing their commitment to supporting community initiatives. “For us at Blue Waters, we aim to give back to communities, finding ways to work with our suppliers and partners to create meaningful touchpoints within communities for the brand,” he stated.
The Angostura Chill CSR program partnered with the Daren Sammy Foundation, Northern Cluster Grassroots, and Castries Cricket Lab to provide training and education to the young cricket players, reinforcing our commitment to the cricketing community and the broader Caribbean region.
